This 2015-17 Salute to Service, customized as #29 “Wright”, was brought to my attention as an easy swap to MacKinnon. While my jersey buddies who found this jersey were absolutely right, I was reluctant to add a MacKinnon warm-up jersey to the collection. I figure the warm-up jerseys are an opportunity for me to add other players to the collection.

I previously had this style of jersey as a Mikko Rantanen, worn during warmups the same night he scored his first NHL goal. After the Mikko trade and subsequent trade to the Stars, I didn’t feel the need to keep a Mikko in my collection, especially while he played for a division rival. Now, when he retires, I wouldn’t mind adding a “Moose” jersey back into the collection, as that’s kind of my thought process for any former Avs players.

I’d love to customize this into someone who won the 2022 Stanley Cup with the Avs (and is still on the team), but that list of players was small in 2016-17, let alone 2015-16, if I wanted to add the 20th patch to the jersey.

For the 2015-16 season, I’d be limited to EJ, MacK, or Landy. 2016-17 adds Compher and Mikko. The other option would be moving EJ to this style of jersey, but I’m not sure that’d add anyone to the mix for the other Avs camo jersey I have. 2017-18 adds Sammy G (covered with a game-worn jersey, and having to put Sammy G on a size 58 seems a little comical). 2018-19 adds Frankie (covered with a later style camo/salute to service jersey), Makar (covered by his rookie style), and LOC (slotted for the Avs St. Patrick’s Day jersey).
