Tyson Barrie #4

2015-16 Reebok Edge 2.0 (Size 56) – Game Worn
Home Set 2
1 Goal, 5 Assists, 6 Points in 13 Games!

I’m super excited about this jersey! This jersey popped up on eBay while I happened to be going through my saved searches. Per usual, the timing couldn’t be any worse, as I had just spent a good chunk of change on the two Avs closeout auctions, where I snagged two Prime Green Game Issued Homes and two Aways. Despite the timing being awful, Avs game-worn jerseys do not pop up often, and when they do, they’re gobbled up quickly. With Tyson being a fan favorite (not just from the Avs fanbase) and the Avs having just won the Stanley Cup I knew I didn’t have time to dwell too much. I think the price I paid for this jersey was a steal and a half, even more so, when you factor in how hot the market for any Avs jersey (even replicas) has been after the Cup Victory!

I did not think I’d ever come across a Tyson Barrie game-worn jersey, especially so at a price I could afford. Back in January 2022, I posted on one of the Avs Game Worn Jersey groups that I was looking for a Tyson Barrie and/or a John-Michael Liles jersey. The only hit I got from that post was a sweet Tyson Barrie jersey from the Adam Foote Retirement Night, with that amazing patch! The only downside was Tyson didn’t play that game, so the jersey was only issued. That price was much higher than I was wanting to spend on a Game Issued Barrie jersey.

This will be only my second Avs Game Worn Jersey. The first I acquired was a Jordan Caron game worn 2014-15 “Blueberry” I’ve since sold. Tyson Barrie was one of my favorite Avalanche players at the time. A bunch of college buddies and I played a whole season of NHL 2014 online with each other and we eventually got to the point where we would lock in positions to play for the whole game. I enjoyed playing defense and would lock in as the Right Defenseman, so I’d naturally get a lot of Erik Johnson and Tyson Barrie time!

When we moved to Colorado in June 2015, I knew I would want to attend some Avalanche games in person and when it was announced the Avs would host an Outdoor Game, I jumped in and locked in a partial season ticket plan to ensure I’d get tickets for the Stadium Series game. On opening night in 2015, I purchased a Tyson Barrie (albeit a Reebok Premier) new Alternate/Third Jersey, aka the Illuminati. I sold that Reebok Premier when I acquired an Edge 2.0 Illuminati, but always knew I’d get a Tyson Barrie jersey back in the collection somehow.

My plan was to find an Edge 2.0 with the Yeti Shoulders to make a #41 jersey, the same style jersey he would have worn his rookie year. Home or Away didn’t matter to me, as I quickly learned how hard it would be to find those jerseys. Home would re-create his first NHL debut in the 2011-12 season and his first NHL goal in the 2012-13 season. Away would re-create his first NHL points in the 2012-13 season.

This jersey was worn for 13 games where Tyson tallied 1 Goal and 5 Assists. I attended the first game Tyson wore this jersey in and got to witness the first point in this jersey!
